Arlington Overview
Why do buyers and renters gravitate towards Arlington? First, they have an excellent public school system, ranked #24 in all of Massachusetts according to Niche.com’s 2025 school rankings. Second, Arlington is very close to downtown Boston and is very commutable as it is bordered by both routes 2 and 3 - so if you are a driving commuter, Arlington is a great place to be. Third, it’s significantly more affordable than other towns close to Boston. For example, the average sold price for a single family in Cambridge in 2024 was $2.55M whereas in Arlington the average single family sold price was $1.28M.
Also, Arlington is more suburban-ish compared to a place like Cambridge or Somerville. So not only are the prices generally more affordable, but you’ll have significantly more inventory compared to Cambridge or Somerville.
